🌼 Stress Awareness Month – April 2026
Be the Change: Small Actions, Big Change
April marks Stress Awareness Month 2026, a national campaign running since 1992 to raise awareness about the causes and impacts of stress, and how we can work together to reduce it. This year’s official theme, #BeTheChange, calls for a shift from passive awareness to active wellbeing—recognising that even the smallest actions can create meaningful change for ourselves and others.
Across workplaces, community groups, and neighbourhoods in Plymouth, we all have the power to build environments where people feel supported, valued, and able to thrive. The theme encourages every individual, team, and organisation to take simple steps that reduce stress and improve wellbeing—because big change begins with small, consistent actions.
🌟 Resilience and Self Care Training
As part of Stress Awareness Month, you can join our FREE Resilience & Self‑Care virtual training, open to anyone living or working in Plymouth. The session helps you understand good mental health, build resilience, recognise stress, and develop practical self‑care strategies—all aligning with the theme #BeTheChange and its focus on small actions creating big change. This online course, delivered via Microsoft Teams, also highlights the role of social connection and emotional wellbeing.
Book your place through Eventbrite: Resilience & Self‑Care Training.
🚶♀️ On Your Feet Britain – 28 April: Join the National Move‑More Movement!
On Your Feet Britain is a national awareness day encouraging workers across the country to #SitLess and #MoveMore by making small, simple changes during the working day. The campaign dares you to swap sitting time for standing or moving—whether that’s standing during calls, taking the stairs, holding walking meetings, or simply stepping away from your desk at lunchtime.
This year’s theme focuses on breaking up long periods of sitting with light, accessible movement—reminding us that even the smallest changes support better physical and mental health. It’s a fun, energising way to reboot workplace habits and promote more active workdays across Britain.
🏙️Join Our FREE Wellbeing Walks in Plymouth
To help you get moving on the day—and beyond—One You Plymouth offers FREE weekly Wellbeing Walks, open to anyone living or working in Plymouth. These walks run both day and night, making it easy to fit movement into your routine no matter your schedule.

🌱 Thrive Plymouth: Prevention – Building Good Health
Thrive Plymouth’s 2025–2027 focus is “Prevention: Building Good Health”, aiming to help Plymouth residents stay healthier for longer by acting earlier and supporting wellbeing across the city.
Prevention looks at three key areas:
Primary: preventing illness before it starts.
Secondary: early action to stop conditions worsening.
Tertiary: supporting those in urgent need to prevent serious decline.
This approach highlights the importance of the Building Blocks of Health—like housing, employment, and environment—and encourages everyone, from workplaces to communities, to consider how early action can make a lasting difference.
Thrive Plymouth also offers resources, including a webinar by Professor Steve Maddern, to help organisations and residents put prevention into practice.
