🏆Wellbeing Champion Update:
The Wellbeing Champion Team from the Anaesthetic Department at University Hospitals Plymouth have been crowned our December Competition winners for ‘Christmas Tree Decorating’!
They came together to collect plastic components from airway equipment—materials that would normally be recycled—and spent several days transforming them into a stunning Christmas tree. Their creativity, teamwork, and commitment shone through, with both staff and patients enjoying being part of its creation.
“Each element represents one operation – a symbol of the care and support we provide to our patients, for whom we are in the operating theatres every day.”
A huge well done to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Wellbeing Champions, runners up of the December competition, who fully embraced the festive spirit by giving their workplace a joyful seasonal makeover.
Their decorations included themed displays, playful movie references, and even a Santa’s “nice list”, bringing warmth, fun, and festive cheer to everyone who visited the space. Their creativity and energy made a real impact on the environment and team morale.
🎓 Wellbeing Training Update
We’re excited to introduce a new FREE Community Suicide Awareness Training Course, created specifically for workplaces and community groups across Plymouth.
This supportive session helps build understanding of the factors that contribute to suicide, boosts confidence in starting difficult conversations, and strengthens signposting knowledge.
Alongside this free offer, we also provide competitively priced Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) — a two‑day, evidence‑based course that teaches participants how to recognise signs of suicidal thoughts and intervene safely. ASIST equips individuals with practical tools to support someone at risk and promote immediate safety, helping to build a more suicide-aware community.

🗣️ Time to Talk Day — February 5
This February, we’re supporting Time to Talk Day, a national reminder that a simple conversation can make a big difference. Checking in, listening, and sharing our experiences helps create a workplace where people feel understood and supported.
As the campaign highlights:
“The power of being able to talk about your own experiences and turn them into something positive is huge.”
To help you feel confident starting these conversations, we also offer Making Every Contact Count (MECC) training. MECC teaches you how to have brief, empathetic wellbeing conversations in everyday moments, helping others explore their motivation to change and take positive steps for their health.
🌈 My Whole Self Day — March 10
Show up as your whole self — starting with looking after yourself
This March, we’re joining MHFA England in celebrating My Whole Self Day, a campaign that champions authenticity, inclusion, and supporting people to bring their whole selves to work.
But to show up fully, we first need to take care of our own wellbeing — which is why we’re spotlighting our Resilience & Self‑Care Training alongside the campaign.
Our Resilience & Self‑Care session helps you explore practical ways to manage everyday stress, understand the foundations of resilience, and develop self‑care strategies that support your emotional wellbeing. It’s all about strengthening your ability to cope, recharge, and thrive — so you can bring your best, most authentic self into work and beyond.
🏘️Become a Community Wellbeing Champion

🌸 Menopause in the Workplace Update
The UK is introducing major changes to menopause support at work. New legislation within the Employment Rights Bill will make menopause action plans mandatory for large organisations (250+ employees) from 2027, following a voluntary adoption phase beginning April 2026.
This shift moves menopause support from “good practice” to a legal requirement, with expectations for proactive measures such as flexible working options, temperature adjustments/cooling, and supportive workplace policies.
